"The Pride of Life."
Dialectic (dialogue) 'reasoning, i.e., "self" 'justification before others is the pride of life.

"For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." 1 John 2:16

Dialectic (dialogue) 'reasoning,' i.e., 'justifying' your "self" i.e., 'justifying' your "self interest," i.e., your "feelings" (heart's desire) of the 'moment' before others, which is based upon your life experience, i.e., your "sense experience," i.e., your desire for ("lusting" after) the carnal pleasures of the 'moment' (dopamine emancipation) which the world stimulates, i.e., your "lust of the flesh, and lust of the eyes," i.e., your "sensuous needs and sense perception," including (especially) the pleasure (dopamine emancipation) which comes with others affirming you and your carnal nature, i.e., affirming your (and their) desire for the carnal pleasures of the 'moment' which the world stimulates, and your (and their) dissatisfaction, resentment, hatred toward authority, i.e., toward restraint (which gets in the way of pleasure) is "the pride of life." It is what the dialectic (dialoguing opinions to a consensus) process is all about, i.e., why you can not reason (preach, teach, and discuss facts and truth) with those who are intoxicated with, addicted to, and possessed by it, i.e., their carnal "feelings," i.e., their carnal desires and dissatisfactions of the 'moment'—who make their (and your) "feelings" instead of doing right and not wrong, according to established commands, rules, facts, and truth the bases, i.e., the 'drive' and 'purpose' of life. Their 'locus operandi' (Facebook mentality) is "Make me (and others) 'feel good' and I will listen to you—you are 'reasonable,' 'rational,' 'relevant,' and of 'value or worth' to me." "Hurt my (and others) 'feelings' and I will not listen to you—you are 'unreasonable,' 'irrational,' irrelevant,' and of 'no value or worth' to me." In other words: don't let facts and truth get in the way of your having "'good' relationship" with those who are "of and for self" (and the world) only.

"And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God." Luke 16:15

"Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil." Proverbs 16:5-6

"The heart is deceitful above all things [thinking pleasure is the standard for "good" instead of doing the father's/Father's will], and desperately wicked [hating whoever prevents, i.e., inhibits or blocks it from enjoying the carnal pleasures of the 'moment' it desires]: who can know it?" Jeremiah 17:9

"The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes. For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful. The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good. He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil." Psalms 36:1-4
